Chapter 3-10: Inquiry Processes

Introduction to Inquiry Processes

Inquiry Processes convey information from the database, usually to the screen, although the hard copy is available. The format is designer-defined. Customer Transactions and account balance information are examples of inquiry processes. Inquiry processes share many of the features of output processes, with one exception.: An inquiry process automatically generates a Key Entry frame, which allows the user to enter the key to the desired record. APPX assumes that an inquiry process is a means to quickly access a specific record, or set of records, rather than to sift the database for a range of records.
